What is the IPL® Photofacial Treatment?
Did you know there is a gentle, non-surgical treatment option to improve the skin’s appearance from a number of conditions including hyperpigmentation, sun damage, rosacea and even unwanted body hair? Innovative Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®) uses broad-spectrum light, rather than lasers, to revive your radiant, youthful complexion without discomfort.
After several sessions using IPL® high energy light waves, a number of skin conditions can be minimized or even eliminated. This is because the light waves stimulate collagen growth, which naturally repairs and revitalizes the appearance of the skin.
Am I a Good Candidate for IPL® Photofacial Treatment?
Candidates for IPL® generally suffer from blotchy, sun-damaged or discolored skin, age spots, large pores, freckles, spider or varicose veins or unwanted hair that they wish to minimize without the hassle of invasive surgery and lasers.
IPL® is effective at treating all skin types and hair colors and is both effective and quick. Dr. Karaca can further discuss candidacy for IPL® at your one-on-one consultation. This appointment will help you to map out a plan to achieve your unique goals and determine if IPL® is the right treatment.
What Happens During the IPL® Photofacial Procedure?
IPL® treatment begins by having a cooling gel applied to the skin. The unique IPL® handpiece is applied gently to the skin’s surface. Broad-spectrum light is then gently transmitted into the tissue targeting unwanted pigments, broken capillaries (small blood vessels) or body hair in need of removal.
A topical anesthetic can be applied to the skin if you are sensitive, but you will be awake for the duration of the procedure. Dr. Karaca performs the procedure in office, and it usually lasts 30 minutes or less. A full treatment plan will be outlined at your consultation. Treatments are usually repeated ever month or two.
What Can I Expect During IPL® Photofacial Recovery?
IPL® can cause the skin to become pink and swell mildly but you will be able to return to normal activities quickly following treatment. You will need to apply sunblock whenever you are exposed to the sun. Makeup is permitted immediately following treatment and within a few days, your radiant complexion will begin to show.
How Much Does IPL® Photofacial Treatment Cost in Detroit?
IPL® Photofacial treatment is an elective cosmetic procedure not covered by most health insurance providers. To make treatment affordable and accessible to all, Birmingham Plastic Surgery happily offers financing options. Cash, checks and credit cards are also accepted.
If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your skin, it might be appropriate for you to consider getting IPL® photofacial treatment. To find out more, contact Dr. Karaca if you live in and around Detroit, Farmington Hills or the surrounding communities of Michigan.
