People who have undergone significant weight loss may find that the skin and muscle tissue around the thighs hasn’t tightened up and is sagging. To tone and contour your thighs, excess skin may need to be removed, and muscle tissue may need to be tightened and lifted. A thigh lift may be the solution to regain that youthful contour that you have lost.

What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a cosmetic procedure that eliminates loose skin and removes fatty deposits from the thighs to produce a more toned, streamlined contour. Dr. Karaca recommends thigh lifts for patients who have undergone significant weight loss, either by natural means or by surgery.

Benefits of a Thigh Lift

Extreme weight loss naturally creates areas of loose, hanging skin on the body. By trimming away this loose skin and suctioning fatty pockets from the thighs, Dr. Karaca can sculpt a toned, firm thigh contour that appears fit and attractive, improving the fit of your clothing and giving you an updated, streamlined appearance.

Reasons to Consider a Thigh Lift

Our knowledgeable and compassionate staff always helps patients make an informed decision before undergoing thigh lift surgery or any procedure with Dr. Karaca. Most patients choose thigh lift surgery to correct the following issues:

  • Excess loose and sagging skin.Liposuction effectively suctions away fatty deposits, but it cannot trim away excess skin. In order to contour the thighs to a toned and firm appearance, a thigh lift is the most appropriate procedure.
  • Elimination of excess fat.For patients who wish to reduce the circumference of the thigh area, or who are unhappy with the shape of their inner thighs, or want to tone areas on the thighs that have bulges and bumps, a thigh lift is the recommended procedure.

Whatever your reasons for considering a thigh lift, you will have the opportunity to be fully informed about the procedure during your initial consultation with Dr. Karaca.

The Thigh Lift Procedure

The thigh lift is performed by making an incision along the thigh to remove excess fat and skin. Sometimes, Dr. Karaca may recommend liposuction to extract additional fat from the area and then, he will suture the incision and dress the sites with bandages. The entire procedure typically takes under four hours and produces results that are immediately noticeable.

Thigh Lift Recovery

The scars from the thigh lift surgery are camouflaged to minimize visibility and will eventually fade with time. Patients must wear a compression garment on the thighs for approximately three to four weeks following the surgery, after which time regular physical activities may be resumed.

Are There Alternatives To A Thigh Lift?

For patients who do not have a lot of loose, excess sagging skin, liposuction alone may be used to tone and contour the thigh area. This procedure is most successful among younger patients with excellent skin elasticity and no sagging folds of skin to worry about.
