Botox Cosmetic

Many aesthetic procedures have been revolutionized and replaced with modern alternatives. However, Botox® remains one of the most popular and effective treatments for wrinkle reduction.

What Is Botox®?

Injected under the skin, Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a dermal filling solution that restores the skin’s appearance to reduce common signs of aging. It contains a specially refined bacterium that temporarily paralyzes muscles to produce anti-aging results. Most often used to treat areas of the face, Botox® can effectively target and restore problem areas such as the eyes or forehead.

In addition to the aesthetic benefits, Botox® injections can also treat a range of other non-cosmetic conditions. Symptoms of overactive bladder, migraines, and excessive perspiration can all be treated and improved with Botox®.

Botox® Benefits

Botox® treatments offer clients a variety of benefits and are customizable based on your individual needs. Botox® can:

  • Minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Give the appearance of smoother, softer skin
  • Aid in the management of migraines (when used in conjunction with other treatments)
  • Reduce excessive sweating, especially in the underarms

Botox® Procedure Preparation

During your consult, please advise the doctor if you’ve recently had Botox® or any other injections, as additional precautionary measures may be necessary. Furthermore, it is important to discuss all routine medications including allergy relief, muscle relaxers, pain relievers and sleep aids. To minimize the risk of bruising and bleeding, it is beneficial to avoid blood thinning medications such as aspirin and Ibuprofen.

Is Botox® Right For Me?

Botox® is best for those who are unhappy with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, or creases in their skin. It is a non-surgical approach to enhancing your appearance that rejuvenates the skin.  Additionally, it is a treatment to consider if you suffer from migraines, frequent urination, or excessive perspiration.

It is important for Dr. Karaca to meet with all Botox® clients prior to treatment. The initial consultation allows him to review your medical history, educate you on the procedure, and answer any questions that may arise.

From migraines to smile lines, Botox® is an effective, safe solution for a broad variety of health conditions and cosmetic issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can injections be applied?

Botox® can be applied to a number of common problem areas successfully. It is commonly used to treat the face, but the following areas can also benefit from injections:

  • Forehead trouble areas
  • Eyes and nose lines
  • Around the mouth
  • Chin and neck treatments

How is Botox® administered?

Botox® is injected using a fine-gauge, hypodermic needle. The procedure is quick, and in most cases, requires little to no preparation. Depending on the treatment, local anesthesia may be administered, but sedation is not necessary. The doctor will advise each client on what they can expect during the procedure, as well as tips for preparation and recovery.

How much does Botox® cost?

In most cases, Botox® is considered an elective cosmetic procedure so clients will be required to cover the cost. The price typically varies with the number of injections and the amount of solution necessary. The best way to understand your individual investment requirement is to schedule a consultation.  Birmingham Plastic Surgery accepts personal checks, cash, and major credit cards for all procedures. Financing options are also available.

What is the recovery period?

Recovery is very minimal, and most patients resume normal activity directly following the procedure. For a short period after, rubbing your face, sleeping on your back, or strenuous exercise are not recommended; this allows the injections to settle. Post-injection discomfort can usually be managed with a cold compress or over-the-counter medications.
